Sage Self Therapy

with Keira and Zumi

Welcome to Sage Self Therapy

Welcome to Sage Self Therapy - thankyou you for taking the time to learn more about what I offer. Sage Self Therapy is a Mental Health Occupational and psychologically informed therapy service in Southern Brisbane. I also work alongside my partner in crime, Zumi (as an animal-assisted therapy team) who is a fluffy white Japanese Spitz.

At Sage Self Therapy I hope to create a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment - a space within which we can spend time together as you explore the areas of your life (whatever they might be) that you would like to explore, understand and potentially see some shifts in. I believe that we all have the capacity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life, and hope to be able to support you to find your way to this. I work with all ages 8 years and up and enjoy working with both adults and children.

I truly believe it is one of the bravest things you can do to show up for yourself, (and in doing so for those who are important in your life as well) to work towards understanding who you are in the world. I can work alongside you as you gain insight into some reasons you might experience challenges and how you can continue to grow and learn.

I hope to help you find your way to your wisest and most sage self.

1.

Mental Health Occupational Therapy

I seek to explore how you function within your meaningful occupations. These are the daily activities of productivity such as work and study, leisure, and relationships that “occupy” your time and have meaning, value, and purpose for you.

2.

Psychologically Informed Therapy

I use interventions from a range of approaches in therapy, and find throughout the therapeutic relationship we use differing approaches depending on you as an individual, tailoring my approaches to your situation and needs.

3.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal Assisted Therapy involves a specifically trained animal (in this case Zumi - a fluffy white Japanese Spitz) within the therapeutic treatment approach and plan. Training in this case is of high importance to ensure that an animal is appropriate and manageable within the therapy experience.

4.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a form of psychotherapy devised by Francine Shapiro in the 1980s that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
